Weekly News

This was a bad week for the Red Sox, as they went 2-5 and fell to only a game ahead of the Rays for the wild card. Our Player of the Week is Jacoby Ellsbury, as he had quite a week, going .382/4/7, as he is having a stellar season at .322/31/103 as this is boiling down to be the tightest race ever for Player of the Week with Gonzalez and Ellsbury tied entering the final week. Our Pitcher of the Week is Josh Beckett, which is kind of sad, considering that he allowed 6 runs in 7 1/3 innings and earned the loss against the Orioles. The Performance of the Week goes to Jacoby Ellsbury, as on Monday (9/19/11), he went 3-6 with 3 runs and 2 RBIs, including an inside-the-park home run. The Game of the Week was undoubtably last night, as the Sox won 7-4 in 14 innings capped on a 3-run homer by Ellsbury. Next week, the Red Sox will play a 3-game series in Baltimore and then, hopefully, head to Texas/Detroit for the ALDS.
