Weekly News

After today's 5-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners, the Red Sox concluded their week with a 3-3 record. They won a 2-1 series against the Twins and lost 1-2 to the Mariners. For the 3rd time this season, our Player of the Week of David Ortiz. Ortiz had a great week, getting a hit in every game and batting at a very respectable .500/3/7 clip to make him .300/24/79 on the season, as he leads the Sox in homers. For his first time, our Pitcher of the Week is new acquisition Erik Bedard, who threw 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on Tuesday (8/9/11), he is now 4-7/3.55/98 on the season and 0-0/4.50/11 with the Sox. The Performance of the Week goes to David Ortiz on Monday (8/8/11) as he went 4-5 with 3 runs and 3 RBIs, including a 2-run homer. The Game of the Week also goes to Monday (8/8/11) as the Sox came back from a 5-1 deficit to win 8-6 in a great game where Tim Wakefield nearly got win #200. The Sox will take a day off tomorrow before a double-header against the Rays on Tuesday and a game versus the Rays on Wednesday. They then head to Kansas City for a 4-game series in an interesting week.
