Weekly News

After today's 5-3 win in Chicago, the Red Sox closed out their 4-3 week to become 66-40 on the season, a fantastic record by all means. Our Player of the Week is Adrian Gonzalez for his 5th time as he batted .519/1/7 and is now .357/18/90 on the season, as he is going to be a certain MVP candidate. Our Pitcher of the Week was Jon Lester, who pitched dominantly twice, and wound up allowing 3 earned runs in 13 1/3 innings, and is now 11-4/3.17/124, as he has been good in his two starts off the DL. The Game of the Week was Wednesday (7/25/11) as the Sox beat the Royals 12-5, led by Big Papi's grand slam and 1,000th RBI with the Red Sox. The Performance of the Week also was David Ortiz on Tuesday's (7/24/11) 13-9 win when he went 4-5 with 5 RBIs in a great game. Next week, the Sox have another 7-game week as they play a 4-game set at home against the Indians and then a 3-game set against the Yankees, also at home.
