Second Place and Fresh First Base

Yesterday the Sox fell 2-4 to Texas and the Yankees won, moving the Sox to 2nd Place in the bouncy AL East. The Sox are also on a 4-game losing skid. (their longest of the season) But, a new first baseman could help a bit earlyin the second half. That new first baseman is Adam LaRoche, formerly of the Pirates is a power-hitting first baseman. He is hitting .247 with 12 homers, and 40 RBIs. The Sox also acquired Chris Duncan from the Cardinals as they traded Julio Lugo, Duncan is batting .227, with 5 homers, and 32 RBIs. The Sox play tonight against the Rangers at 8:05 ET on ESPN, trying to avoid their first sweep of the season. Tim Wakefield has been placed on the DL with a back injury, so Clay Buchholz will be filling himin in the rotation, and he is pitching tonight. I hope they avoid their first sweep!

  1. Thanks for the updates on our favorite team. It was disappointing to lose the series against the Rangers. I hope that the team will get out of its slump soon so that we don't fall too far behind the Yankees.

    GO SOX!

  2. Alas, it was a bitter loss to the Rangers last night. Especially with the Yankees on a roll. Looking forward to seeing how the new kids fit into the Sox line-up.
