Weekly News

After today's 9-6, 17 inning heartbreaker against the Orioles-- the Sox concluded a miserable 1-5 week where they fell from 10-11 to 11-16 over the course of the week. For the second time, the Player of the Week is Mike Aviles, who went .225/1/6 and improved to .265/5/19 on the season-- a far cry from his rough 2011 numbers. Our Pitcher of the Week is Jon Lester, who went six innings and allowed three runs in the thirteen inning loss on Friday night. He is having a decent year so far at 1-2/4.62/25 as the staff ace. The Performance of the Week belongs to Mike Aviles on Monday's 11-6 win over the A's. Aviles went 2-5, scoring a pair of runs and driving in four runs, including a three-run homer in the victory. The Game of the Week was today's game against the Orioles. Even though they lost, it was a great game and they came back from an early 5-0 deficit, despite losing in 17 hard fought innings. In the upcoming week, the Sox will head to Kansas City to play the Royals for a three game set. Afterwards, they will head back home to play the Indians in a four game series (I'm going to the Saturday game!!!). While this was a disappointing week, hopefully the Sox can jump back next week.
