Weekly News

Just coming off a week in which the Sox appeared to have righted a slow start, they had a miserable week, going 0-5 to move to 4-10 on the season. A rare bright spot this week was Mike Aviles, who was slotted into the leadoff role and excelled to the tune of a .300/0/3 week-- he is now .294/2/5 on the season. The Pitcher of the Week is Felix Doubront, who had an excellent outing yesterday before the bullpen blew things up. He went 6 strong innings, allowing one run and striking out seven-- he is now 0-0/3.94/20 as he has impressed since winning the fourth starter role. The Performance of the Week goes to David Ortiz for the third straight week as he went 4-4 with a run and RBI double as he's gotten off to a hot start this year. The Game of the Week would be Monday's 1-0 loss to the Rays in which Daniel Bard was so good in a close game. Next week, the Red Sox will head to Minnesota for a three-game series against the 5-10 Twins before heading to Chicago to take on the White Sox for a four-game series.
