Red Sox Give St. Patrick A Win (12-9)
Today the Red Sox beat the Mets 8-5 in a pretty easy victory for the Red Sox. John Lackey, who has been announced as the Red Sox' #2 starter to start the year, allowed 1 run over 5.1 innings, earning the win and becoming 2-0/1.72/6 this spring. Rich Hill, Scott Atchison, and Daniel Bard each had scoreless outings while Jonathan Papelbon allowed 4 runs in 0.2 innings. The save went to Eammon Portice, who got an out in the the 9th inning, which by luck happened to be the last of the game. Three Red Sox players had two RBIs today, in Carl Crawford (.219/0/3), Drew Sutton (.286/2/5), and Jed Lowrie (.226/0/3). Jorge Jimenez had 1 RBI today, as he is now 1.000/0/1 this spring. Tomorrow, the Red Sox will split their squads, sending Clay Buchholz to face the Tigers at 1:05 and Tim Wakefield to face the Rays at 7:05. I'm very happy the Sox won, as they are doing pretty well this spring.
