Jenks Blows Big Lead In 9th Inning (12-18)
Last night the Red Sox played a game against the Twins, and lost their first "Mayor's Cup" in 5 years in an 8-9 loss. Everything was rolling along, as the Sox had a comfortable 8-3 lead heading into the 9th inning, led by 6 innings of one-run ball by Daisuke Matsuzaka, who is now 0-2/4.97/17 this spring. Unfortunately, in the top of the ninth, Bobby Jenks allowed 6 runs in one inning, snapping his previous scoreless streak in pieces. Adrian Gonzalez (right) hit his first home run of the spring last night, in a 2-3 night, he is now .286/1/3 this spring. Darnell McDonald also did very well, going 2-3 with a 3-run triple, he is now .261/2/7 this spring. Drew Sutton, Carl Crawford, Kevin Youkilis, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia each had one RBI last night as well. Today, the Sox will face the Orioles, with Jon Lester heading to the hill at 1:05. I really have nothing bad to say about this game that doesn't involve the name Bobby Jenks, so I won't.
