100, 500; Big Numbers

In the Red Sox' 6-1 win over the Marlins last night, 2 important events happened. Brad Penny (below) improved to 6-2 on the season and grabbed his 100th career win. Now, Fenway Park (right) had its 500th consecutive sellout. The streak started on May 15, 2003 and they have had no empty seats since then. Yesterday was also an impressive day for the Sox as for the 2nd straight night, they destroyed the Marlins, last night 6-1. Jacoby Ellsbury hit his 3rd homer of the year. Dustin Pedroia had 3 RBIs and 2 SB. The Red Sox try to keep the sweep tonight at 6:00.

  1. Another sidenote was that Ellsbury committed his first error in the majors. His run of 232 games and 554 chances represented the longest errorless streaks by an outfielder in Red Sox history. He has been a gold glover center fielder since being called up. Reminds me alot of guy named Fred Lynn although Lynn had a little more power.

  2. And to to it all off, the Yankees have lost two to . . . the Washington Nationals!
