Series Preview #17: Red Sox (26-25) @ Blue Jays (27-24)
The Red Sox are coming off a near sweep of the Tigers in which they eclipsed the .500 mark and now stand just a game behind the Blue Jays for fourth place. Coincidentally, the Red Sox will be heading to Toronto to face the Jays in a three-game series. Starting tonight will be Clay Buchholz (right)(4-2/7.19/33), who is coming off his best start of the season, and impressive youngster Henderson Alvarez (3-4/3.56/19). Each of these starters have had success against their respective opponents, but I'd give the edge to Alvarez. In tomorrow's matinee, we'll get to see Felix Doubront (5-2/3.86/59), who has been the Red Sox' best pitcher this year, and Kyle Drabek (4-5/4.55/42). Each of these pitchers beat their opponents earlier this year, but Drabek has not had success against the Sox apart from that and I'd predict a win here. Sunday's edition of this series will involve Daniel Bard (5-5/4.56/31), coming off his best start of the year, going against Jays' rookie Drew Hutchison (4-2/4.84/36), who is also coming off his best start of the year. Hutchison has not yet faced the Red Sox-- and he doesn't appear to have the stuff to get through their great lineup so I'd predict a win. Bold Prediction: Red Sox win series 2-1.
