Series Preview #8: Orioles (16-9) @ Red Sox (11-13)

After a much needed off day today, the Red Sox will get right back to work tomorrow as the Orioles will come to town in the first game of the series. In the game tomorrow night, Japanese import Wei-Yin Chen (2-0/2.22/19) will start against ace Jon Lester (1-2/4.65/23). Even though Chen has pitched well this season, he's facing Jon Lester-- outside of April-- and this should be a win. The next game is not looking quite so good as newly acquired Jason Hammel (3-1/1.97/30) will go against Aaron Cook (right)(3-0/1.89/13 in AAA) making his first start. With the way Hammel has pitched this year, I'd say the Orioles win a tight one in this game. In the series finale, Tommy Hunter (2-1/4.26/13) will take the hill against Clay Buchholz (3-1/8.69/16). Buchholz has pitched badly this year, but he has gotten good run support (3-1) and if he can avoid the bad inning, I think the Sox will take this game. Plus, Buchholz has to break out of this slump eventually-- why not against the Orioles and a guy the Sox have hit on to a 6.52 ERA? Bold Prediction: Red Sox win series 2-1.
