Series Preview #16: Tigers (23-24) @ Red Sox (23-24)

After going in separate paths since the Opening Series, the Red Sox and Tigers-- two teams supposed to do well this year-- meet again with identical records of 23-24. Starting tomorrow's game will be Felix Doubront (4-2/3.96/53), one of the Red Sox' better pitchers this year, against Doug Fister (0-2/1.84/22). Fister has been great when healthy this year so I'd predict a Tigers win. On Tuesday night's game, we get to watch the Daniel Bard (4-5/4.69/28) experiment continue against one of the best in baseball in Justin Verlander (5-2/2.15/75). If Verlander is pitching, one basically has to give the win to the Tigers and I'll do the same. On Wednesday, it'll be Jon Lester (right)(3-4/4.72/41) squaring off against impressive rookie Drew Smyly (2-1/3.14/46). Just because of my faith in Lester, I'm predicting a win, but it should be a very close game. Thursday's game should be a solid win for the Red Sox though, with Josh Beckett (4-4/4.15/45) going against Max Scherzer (4-3/5.67/72)-- who the Red Sox roughed up earlier this year. Bold Prediction: Red Sox and Tigers tie series 2-2.
