Series Preview #12: Red Sox (17-19) @ Rays (23-14)

With a five game winning streak on the line, the Red Sox will leave the friendly confines of Fenway Park to face the Rays in Tampa Bay for a two game series. The Rays have been playing well this year, tied for the AL East lead with a 23-14 record. They've had solid pitching (15th in the league) and good hitting (8th in the league) this year. In the first game of the series tonight, I expect the Red Sox' winning streak to end with Clay Buchholz (4-1/8.31/20) doing battle with Jeremy Hellickson (3-0/2.95/29). Buchholz has pitched badly this year, so I'd expect the Rays to take Game 1 behind the reliable Hellickson. The second game of the series with be a pair of rookie lefties with Felix Doubront (right)(3-1/4.46/37) and Matt Moore (1-3/5.31/34) set to pitch. I'd expect the Sox to take a close one here and tie the series. Bold Prediction: Red Sox and Rays tie series 1-1.
