Series Preview #11: Mariners (16-20) @ Red Sox (15-19)

After a Game 1 loss, the Red Sox really righted the ship against the Indians and won their series 3-1. The Sox will be staying at Fenway to play a quick two-game series with the Mariners, who are fresh off a 1-2 series loss to the Yankees. In the first game of the series tonight, it'll be Jon Lester (1-3/4.29/28) and Jason Vargas (4-2/2.79/38) to do battle. Vargas has pitched well this year, but Lester is heating up and with the Red Sox' offense (third in baseball) against the Mariners' (seventeenth in baseball), the Sox should pull out a close game against the M's tonight. Tomorrow night will be another close game with Josh Beckett (right)(2-4/5.97/26) against youngster Blake Beavan (1-3/4.32/14), another guy who has pitched well this year. Beckett was actually pitching pretty well before his last start against the Tribe, and with the clearly superior Boston offense behind him, I'd predict a win here. Bold Prediction: Red Sox Sweep Series 2-0.
