Series Preview #10: Indians (17-13) @ Red Sox (12-18)
After suffering a series loss to the Royals-- their third consecutive series loss-- the Indians will come to town to take on the Sox. In the game tonight, Josh Beckett (2-3/4.45/24) and former Red Sox Derek Lowe (4-1/2.39/10) will start. Even though Lowe has pitched well this year, I expect a well rested Beckett to get the better of this matchup. In tomorrow night's ballgame, Clay Buchholz (3-1/9.09/20) and Ubaldo Jimenez (3-2/4.04/20) will square off. Buchholz has been brutal this year and the Indians should take this ballgame with Jimenez throwing. Then comes Saturday's game when Felix Doubront (2-1/5.01/32) will go against Josh Tomlin (1-2/4.67/27). I'm actually going to this game and I'm very excited, so I've got to predict a win in this game-- but there may be some truth to it as Doubront has pitched better than his stats suggest. The series finale will include Daniel Bard (2-4/4.83/21) and Justin Masterson (1-2/4.89/29) throwing for their teams. Masterson has dominated the Sox since being traded for Victor Martinez (3-0, 1.95 ERA) so I have to predict an Indians win in this one. Bold Prediction: Red Sox and Indians tie series 2-2.
