Weekly News
This was not a bad week for the Red Sox, they went 4-3 for the second straight week after tying 2-2 with the Indians and beating the Yankees 2-1. Our Player of the Week, for his 4th time is Jacoby Ellsbury, who had a great week, going .276/2/10, along with 2 walkoffs!!! He is now having a great season, as he is batting .318/19/72 this season. Our Pitcher of the Week is, well, pretty much who it's been all year, Josh Beckett, who won his 9th this year by going just 0-0/2.25/12 in 12 innings. He is having a great season at 9-4/2.17/127, and as evidence of last night, he has simply dominated our arch-rivals, the Yankees. I think that, if you paid attention to baseball this week, the Performance of the Week would be pretty clear, as on Saturday (8/6/11), Jacoby Ellsbury batted 2-4 with a home run and 6 RBIs in an awesome game for him. Now, for the game of the week, this one's a little tougher, since the Red Sox walked off 3 times this week (!!!!) but my answer was surprisingly easy. Seeing as last night's game (8/7/11) was against the Yankees, and we were behind in the 9th, it pretty much takes the cake. Next week, the Red Sox will play a 3-game series in Minnesota against the Twins, then they will hit the road and play 3 in Seattle after an off day on Thursday.
