Youk's Homer Backs Beckett's Gem (40-27)

Last night was a pitcher's duel to the epitome as the Red Sox won 3-0. There were 5 total hits in the ball game (4 Red Sox, 1 Rays) and each pitcher lasted to at least the 7th inning. All of the runs came on one hit, a 3-run homer by Kevin Youkilis in the 7th inning, scoring Dustin Pedroia and Adrian Gonzalez, and that was it.
Josh Beckett was excellent, wonderful, fantastic as he allowed just 1 hit and struck out 6, going the distance and earning the win to become 6-2/1.86/79. Dustin Pedroia had a pretty good game, going 2-4 with a triple and a run scored. Kevin Youkilis only went 1-4. but that home run was worth a 4-4 day, as he is now .259/10/45. Carl Crawford had his first hit back at the Trop, as he went 1-3 with a single to right field. Tonight will likely be another pitcher's duel as Clay Buchholz (5-3/3.59/55) and David Price (7-5/3.51/89) will square off.

Bright Spots:
Josh Beckett- he was great with just 1 hit allowed in a complete game shutout
Dustin Pedroia- 2-4 with a triple and a run scored
Kevin Youkilis- 1-4 with that huge, clutch, 3-run homer
Carl Crawford- 1-3 with his first hit back in Tampa

Dull Spots:
Jacoby Ellsbury- 0-3
David Ortiz- 0-3
Jed Lowrie- 0-3
J.D. Drew- 0-3

Wow, Beckett was great and Youk's homer was clutch! Also, on a personal note, happy birthday to me.
