Yearly News

Today, the Red Sox closed out their season by beating the Yankees 8-4, thus finishing at 89-73, and missing the playoffs for the first time since 2006. Our Player of the Year is David Ortiz (right) who had 8 Player of the Week Awards and finished the season .270/32/102. Adrian Beltre (.321/28/102) also had a great season this year and I hope they can resign him. Clay Buchholz (17-7/2.33/120) and Jon Lester (19-9/3.25/225) both pitched very well this year. Unfortunately, Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, and Jacoby Ellsbury are a few of the major injuries that befell the Red Sox this year, in a season in which everyone in the starting lineup except Adrian Beltre and David Ortiz was injured; and every pitcher except Jon Lester was injured. I really hope that somebody other than the Rays or Yankees wins the World Series this year, I wish I could say hat more confidently though.

  1. Well, it's been a tough year. The boys played well and with heart given the tremendous obstacles they faced at every turn, with such a large proportion of their top guys on the DL. It's at least a satisfying touch to go out with a win over the Yankees. Now we have to revert to the refrain that Red Sox Nation has known so well for decades: "There's always next year" . . .
