Red Sox Break Record Skid

Yesterday the Red Sox beat the Tigers in an amazing game and Fenway Park. In the first inning, Dustin Pedroia hit a 2-run jack, then in the second Nick Green (right) hit a lead-off homer. Then the Sox scored once more to open up a 4-0 lead. Then The Tiger made it close in the 5th, as it became 4-3. Then in the bottom of the 5th, Jason Bay turned and watched one sail for his 22nd homer of the season, making it 5-3. Then Polanco and Thames each got RBIs in the 7th making it 5-5. But then Nick Green (right) hit a game-winning sacrifice fly, making it 6-5, the final score. The Yankees and Rays lost, and the Rangers didn't play. This makes the Sox at 63-48, 5.5 games behind the Yankees (Rays are 8 games back), The Red Sox are also .5 ahead in the Wild Card. (as the Rangers didn't play) Rookie pitcher, Junichi Tazawa will start against the Tigers tonight.

  1. Good game -- close and lots of tension. Same thing with the Yankees/Jays, flipping back and forth between the two channels constantly! What a relief to see the lads hiting some balls again. Fingers crossed that they are starting a rally!
