Dice-K Grabs First Win of '09

Last night, the Red Sox beat the Tigers 5-1, as Daisuke Matsuzaka (Dice-K) earned his first win of the 2009 season! He is now 1-3 with a 7.17 ERA. He earned 1 run and struck out 6 in 5 innings, as well as giving up only 6 hits. This was also Terry Francona's 500th career win in a Red Sox uniform so congratulations for him! Tonight at 7:05 ET the Sox face off against the Tigers on ESPN's Wednesday Night Baseball, pitching is Josh Beckett (Red Sox, 5-2) vs. Armando Gallaraga (Tigers, 3-5). Speaking of Gallaraga, I have a story. Last Thursday, my class had an overnight trip to Baltimore, we had a 2-hour free time, so my dad, me, and my roommates snuck out to an Orioles game! Orioles beat the Tigers 5-1 and Gallaraga got the loss!

  1. I think it's great that you're so excited about the Red Sox and know so much about them. I, on the other hand, know virtually nothing about baseball and even less about the Sox. So it would seem that that creates a problem for me in any attempts to contribute anything relevant to your blog. The problem goes away, of course, if we don't mind me making completely irrelevant contributions.

I do like the Os, but that's only because I live in MD. I like crabs more, which you can also eat, and they’re good eatin’ indeed. You can't eat the Os as far as I know, and I'm not sure they'd taste very good even if you could eat them and did. I strongly suspect crabs taste better, and there aren’t nearly the moral or legal problems involved with eating them compared to eating the Os. So I’ll stick with crabs.

And just for clarity, we’re talking about members of the baseball team rather than the bird after which they’re named. I imagine it’s easier and less problematic to eat the birds, but I still expect crabs are much better. But if you have any helpful information on the subject, please do pass it along.

  2. So thats the person on the shirt that you wear to school!

  3. Congarts Dice-K - glad to see him back in the saddle. And congrats to the best manager in MLB!
