More Than Just Us Love Tim Wakefield
Last night, before Game 2 of the World Series, Tim Wakefield (right) was presented with the Roberto Clemente Award for 2010. This year, Tim Wakefield had a pretty bad season, going 4-10/5.34/84, as it was pretty much his worst season. Still, the Roberto Clemente Award is a nice thing to have, as it means he is a great person too, and this will end his career on a good note as he is probably bound to retire before too long. Also, David Ortiz may strike a deal with us as he is a free agent this year. Game 3 of the World Series tonight, the Giants are up 2-0!

Not Quite What We Thought of Game 1
Last night, the Giants and Rangers faced off in Game 1 in the World Series. With Tim Lincecum and Cliff Lee pitching, it was expected to be a 2-1 or 1-0 game, instead it ended up being 11-7 Giants, the second most runs in a World Series Game 1, behind the '04 Red Sox, the stats they come up with! Freddy Sanchez (right) had a good game, going 4-5 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs, as he had a great game. Juan Uribe hit a 3-run homer as well, and about 5 other guys had 1 RBI too. I hope the Giants can beat the Rangers, but the Rangers also deserve one.

The Blue Jays Steal Our Coach
Well, goodbye, John Farrell, we've enjoyed having you as a pitching coach. The Toronto Blue Jays have taken our beloved pitching coach, John Farrell (right) and making him their manager in a very similar situation to what happened last year with the Astros and Brad Mills. The Blue Jays have replaced manager Cito Gaston with John Farrell, who has been the Red Sox' pitching coach since 2007. He is 48 years old and pitched for 8 years with the Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, and Los Angeles Angels during the late 1980's and early 1990's. The Red Sox' owner, John Henry, said that "He will be an effective, excellent manager;" so strong praise. We will miss him, as he was a great pitching coach, leading us to a World Series Championship and one of the best pitching staffs in the Major Leagues. We'll miss you, John!
2010: The Year Of The Underdog
Last night, the Giants beat the Phillies 3-2, and are going to the World Series to face the Texas Rangers. Last night, Cody Ross (left) was named NLCS MVP of 2010. The night before, Josh Hamilton (right) was named ALCS MVP. Over the full year, Cody Ross went .269/14/65, but he stepped it up a notch, going .350/3/5 in the NLCS. Josh Hamilton was a bit different, he did great in the season too, going .359/32/100, leading the league in batting average; in the ALCS he went .350/4/7. The 2010 World Series will be a definite pitching World Series, as both of these underdogs have fantastic pitching. On Wednesday, the Giants and Rangers will go up head to head in San Francisco for the 2010 World Series. Not much has been happening for the Red Sox, except for their plans to upgrade Fenway Park, which has been happening for several years may be finishing. So far, they have put seats on the Green Monster, and added a huge TV, now they are adding HD TVs instead of the two little scoreboards on the right and left sides of the field. I hope the Red Sox can have a good offseason, and I hope this is a great World Series.

Rangers-Yankees Split Next Two
Yesterday, the Yankees beat the Rangers 7-2, but the Rangers won the previous game 10-3, giving the Rangers a 3-2 lead in the series. C.J. Wilson did pretty badly, allowing 6 runs in 5 innings as that was probably the worst start by a Rangers pitcher this postseason, or at least ALCS. The Giants won their last two games, and are now winning 3-1 against the Phillies. I hope the Rangers and Giants make it to the World Series.

Lee Brilliant As Rangers Pull Ahead
Last night, the Rangers destroyed the Yankees 8-0 to pull ahead in the series 2-1! Cliff Lee (right) was simply fantastic, he struck out 13 and allowed 2 hits in 8 shutout innings. Josh Hamilton and Dustin Moreland each had 2 RBIs last night against the Yankees. Elvis Andrus, Nelson Cruz, and Bengie Molina all had 1 RBI last night. Josh Hamilton also scored two runs. Wouldn't it be fantastic if the Rangers won the ALCS, just 2 more wins for them!

Early Off-Season Red Sox News
Throughout my playoff coverage this offseason, I forgot the point of my blog, the Red Sox. So, to catch me up, here are a few things that have happened to the Sox... Darnell McDonald (right) is planning to have surgery on his thumb, McDonald had a pretty good year filling in for various outfielders, going .270/9/34. The Red Sox have also secured catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia for 2011 with a 1 year, $750,000 contract. Also, the Sox have an unlikely, but possible chance at getting starter, Cliff Lee. Cliff Lee is a fantastic pitcher, who does exceptionally well against the Yankees and had an All-Star year in 2010, going 12-9/3.18/185. I hope the Sox can good moves, but to be honest, I don't think they need to if they can avoid injuries.

Yankees And Rangers Split First Two Of ALCS
After losing Game #1 of the ALCS to the Yankees, 5-6, after being ahead 5-0, the Rangers rebounded to beat the Yankees 7-2 today. Colby Lewis (right) dominated the Yankees today, he went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 6, as he pitched pretty well today. Nelson Cruz and David Murphy each scored 2 runs, Murphy had a solo home run and 2 RBIs. Michael Young, Ian Kinsler, Bengie Molina, and Dustin Moreland each had one RBI. Josh Hamilton and Elvis Andrus each stole two bases today as the Rangers all around played a good ballgame. The Giants are also leading the Phillies 4-1 as I write this. In my opinion, a Rangers-Giants World Series would be a nice change of pace for MLB.

Pretty Good Coaches For Us
Apparently, the Red Sox have one of the best coaching staffs in baseball, because about half of them are being interviewed for a managerial position somewhere else. DeMarlo Hale (right) is currently the Red Sox bench coach, after being their third base coach for quite a few years. Hale is being interviewed for the Blue Jays, Mariners, and Marlins to be their manager. Third base coach, Tim Bogar, is also being interviewed for various jobs around the league. Pitching coach, John Farrel is also in demand; however, if you remember, Farrel was rumoured to have some managerial interviews, but he just stayed with us, so it's ok, I think. I hope the Sox can keep all their great coaches.

The Rays Are Out!!!!
Last night the Rangers beat the Rays 5-1, and therefore, are going to the ALCS! Cliff Lee pitched so well again, allowing 1 run and going the distance, he is such a good playoff pitcher! Ian Kinsler (right) had a great game too, going 3-4 with a 2-run homer and 3 RBIs. Josh Hamilton also had an RBI for the Rangers last night. I really hope that the Rangers can knock out the Yankees and that my NL team (the Giants) can knock out the Phillies, wouldn't a Rangers-Giants World Series be a change of pace?

Rays Keep Alive Once More
Today, the Rays beat the Rangers 5-2, thus tying the series at 2-2 and keeping their chances for an AL East ALCS alive. Wade Davis was alright, allowing 2 runs in 5 innings, as the rookie kept the Rays in the running. Evan Longoria (right) hit a 2-run homer for the Rays while Nelson Cruz hit a solo shot for the Rangers. Carlos Pena and B.J. Upton both had one RBI for the Rays and Dustin Moreland had one for the Rangers. I hope the Rangers can win on Tuesday, thus killing the Rays!
Rays Stay Alive, Twins Do Not
Last night, the Rays beat the Rangers 6-3 and the Yankees beat the Twins 6-1. For the Yankees, Phil Hughes (right) did great, allowing 0 runs in 7 innings, Matt Garza did well also, allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. Marcus Thames had 2 RBIs for the Yankees, while Carlos Pena had 3 RBIs, including a homer for the Rays. I hope the Rangers can rebound today to beat the Rays and go into the ALCS this year.

Rangers Kill Rays Again, Alas So Do Yankees
Last night, the Rangers beat the Rays by a dominating score of 6-0, while the Yankees cleanly beat the Twins 5-2. C.J. Wilson (right) was dominant for the Rangers, allowing 0 runs in 6.2 innings, unfortunately, Andy Pettitte was pretty good for the Yankees as well, allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Lance Berkman had a pretty good game for the Yankees, going 2-4 with 2 RBIs. Michael Young and Ian Kinsler each went 2-4, Young had 3 RBIs and Kinsler had 2 as they both had good games as well. At the moment, it's looking like a Rangers-Yankees ALCS, the first time that the Rangers have won a playoff series.

Lee Dominates Rays, Yankees Beat Twins
Last night, in Game 1 of the 2010 Playoffs, the Rays lost to the Rangers 5-1, and the Yankees beat the Twins 6-4. Roy Halladay made history by throwing the 2nd postseason no-hitter ever, and Lee threw a franchise-record 10 strikeouts. Bengie Molina hit a 2-run homer against the Rays, and Nelson Cruz hit a solo homer. Michael Cuddyer hit a 2-rum shot against the Yankees, and for the Yankees, Mark Teixeira hit a 2-run homer and Curtis Granderson got 2 RBIs in other ways, those are very brief summaries of the first two games we care about in the playoffs.

Yearly News
Today, the Red Sox closed out their season by beating the Yankees 8-4, thus finishing at 89-73, and missing the playoffs for the first time since 2006. Our Player of the Year is David Ortiz (right) who had 8 Player of the Week Awards and finished the season .270/32/102. Adrian Beltre (.321/28/102) also had a great season this year and I hope they can resign him. Clay Buchholz (17-7/2.33/120) and Jon Lester (19-9/3.25/225) both pitched very well this year. Unfortunately, Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, and Jacoby Ellsbury are a few of the major injuries that befell the Red Sox this year, in a season in which everyone in the starting lineup except Adrian Beltre and David Ortiz was injured; and every pitcher except Jon Lester was injured. I really hope that somebody other than the Rays or Yankees wins the World Series this year, I wish I could say hat more confidently though.
Patterson, Red Sox Walk Off (88-73)
Last night the Red Sox beat the Yankees 7-6 in 10 innings, so each of the games yesterday went into extra innings. Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed 4 runs in 5 innings, with 2 of them earned, he closes his season at 9-6/4.69/133. Eric Patterson (right) won the game for the Sox with a walk-off single in the 10th, he is now .217/6/16, as he was actually a respectable acquisition for the Sox. Felipe Lopez, Lars Anderson, Daniel Nava, Yamaico Navarro, and Kevin Cash each had 1 RBI last night. Today, to close out the season, John Lackey (13-11/4.47/146) and Dustin Moseley (4-3/4.77/30) will be pitching in Fenway. I think the Sox did remarkably well for all their injuries this year.

Red Sox Lose Opener In 10 Innings (87-73)
Today, the Red Sox lost to the Yankees by a score of 5-6 in 10 innings. Since this is Mike Lowell's (right) last series before retirement, he had a thank you speech today, to go along with a pretty good game in which he went 2-2 with 2 RBIs, making him now .231/5/26. Daniel Nava went 1-5 with an RBI, he is now .240/1/25, as he has been ok this year. Tim Wakefield was not very impressive, allowing 5 runs in 5 innings, he is now 4-10/5.34/84, as this has been probably his worst season in his career as this was a tough year for anyone on the Red Sox. The nightcap has already started and the score is 0-1 at the moment, I hope the Sox can pull ahead!

No 20 Wins For Lester (87-72)
Last night, the Red Sox lost 2-8 to the White Sox, thus losing the series, 1-3. Jon Lester did not do very well, allowing 8 runs in 4 innings, he is now 19-9/3.25/225, as that will be his 2010 season stats. Victor Martinez (right) went 2-3 with 2 RBIs, as he had a 2-run homer, he is now .303/20/79, as he's come back to have a great season. Tonight, the Red Sox will play the Yankees in Fenway. Andy Pettitte (11-3/3.17/93) and Daisuke Matsuzaka (9-6/4.72/127) will pitch tonight. I hope the Sox can sweep the Yankees, that would be great.
